The Allen Hotel was the largest black-friendly hotel in Louisville, Kentucky during the 1940’s and 1950’s. As a result, it is the hotel where African-American celebrities stayed when they came to town. This 50-room hotel is also where boxing champion Joe Louis stayed in the 1950’s. Today, it serves as a center that

provides housing and drug and alcohol treatment for women.
